We bring to your attention a first-person account of the trip to the dusk: one day of the festival through the eyes of our "black metal" guide Andrey, who bravely went with our group on June 28, 2019 to Helsinki for one of the most atmospheric metal festivals in Europe!
This is the third time I am going to Tuska for one day for the performance of one group. First it was Tryptikon, then Emperor and now Dimmu Borgir. And for the second time, the still white Petersburg nights and excitement do not allow to fall asleep until the bus departs, which leaves its mark for the whole day, already intoxicated with music. A good tradition to go to a concert from St. Petersburg to Helsinki, this familiar path, landscapes, shops, cafes have already become something without which it is difficult to imagine your life.
The first day was quite densely staffed, today they performed:
Amorphis, Dimmu Borgir, Anthrax, Battle Beast, Arion, Swallow The Sun, Cult Of Luna, Marko Hietala, Medeia, Anneke Van Giersbergen, Power Trip, Brymir, Alien Weaponry, Wheel, Pahan Ikoni, Goatburner.
This time, as it turned out, for the first time in the process of walking from the hotel to the festival site (about an hour on foot, the metro can be reached much faster), which we decided to go along with the majority of our bus crew, I managed to see more not only the center of the Finnish capital but other areas are quite interesting with landscapes.
This time the festival changed its configuration, now the entrance to the fest was two steps from the metro and the approaches to the stages became much easier and more successful. There were more people than last time, the fest is generally expected and is developing.
The first group we tried to get into was Battle Beast, then Anthrax hit the thrash metal, then we had to wait at the stage for an hour, waiting for Dimmu Borgir, whose performance during the day looks, of course, a little different than in the more organic darkness for them, but this did not interfere in any way with Shagrath, and it was easy to turn on the audience. Amorphis were the headliners of the first day of their almost native festival.
Immediately after Dimmu Borgir, I went to the return bus to return home in the morning.
Most of the participants on our tour went to all 3 days of the festival. I managed to get there and back in exactly one day and get very sick at the concert of my favorite band. Also quite an interesting express option;)
